The question has been posed a billion times. Ginger or Mary Ann? Watching the show as a boy I knew who I would pick. Mary Ann without a doubt. The down home country girl who looked so good even though her top looked like the table cloth in an Italian restaurant. She was sweet and innocent. The proverbial girl next door. Definitely not high maintenance. When the castaways sat down at the bamboo dining room table to dine, who was it that made the best looking coconut cream pies in the South Pacific? Mary Ann that's who. How she got the ingredients to make the topping for her pies remains a mystery.
Then there's Ginger. Ginger the hollywood actress. She oozed sexuality. The soft sultry voice. The pouting lips and batting eyes. She used her seductive techniques to get what ever it was she wanted. Ginger probably cooked like Ellie Mae Clampett, but then when you slink on a deserted island like Ginger did, who cares if she can cook. I bet Ginger smelled great too. For a bunch of people on a three hour tour, they sure did pack a lot of stuff. Ginger undoubtedly packed loads of perfume and evening gowns. I don't think I'd be able to afford just the shoes that Ginger would want to own. How much do a pair of Manohlo Blahnik shoes cost? Ginger probably has a closet full.
Mary Ann was the girl next door. The girl who would be happy with the white picket fence and the 2.3 children with a faithful golden retriever. Mary Ann would greet her man at the door after work with dinner made and an apple pie in the oven. Yes I said apple pie. I am sure once she got rescued from the island she'd never want to taste another coconut cream pie in her life. Mary Ann would make fried chicken to die for. Mary Ann would bring her husband the news paper and rub his weary feet after fetching him a beer.
Ginger would be sitting in front of the mirror when her husband got home. There'd be no dinner in the oven. She'd have called Domino's and gotten the pizza delivery boy to drop the pizza off for free using her womanly charms. Ginger would want to sit in the back yard of her Malibu beach house having men in loin cloths feed her grapes and fanning her. The grape feeders would be 25 or younger and they'd all have those six pack abs. Ginger's cell phone would never stop ringing. Her ring tone would be "It's Raining Men".
Mary Ann wouldn't even have a cell phone. She'd be happy doing the laundry and vacuuming the living room while her kids were in school. Mary Ann would be a Cub Scout leader and she'd have the scouts over and teach them how to make macaroni mosaics. Ginger would hire a nanny. Ginger would have never changed a diaper or done laundry.
I am sure that as generations pass, the question will continue to be posed. Ginger or Mary Ann? I don't know what the results of the question factor out to be. I am thinking that Mary Ann wins the poll hands down. So I have included one here.
I did include Mrs. Howell. Lovey, as Thurston referred to her. Lovey was probably a hottie in her day. She was probably a lot like Ginger too. I bet Lovey couldn't cook toast.
Looking forward to the comments and the poll results and yes this is a cheap effort on my part to get some HUB traffic.

Touche!! Well done. I am not a man but my bet would be on Mary Ann also. It brought back memories of the good old shows: wholesome, funny and decent. We could all use a little more of that these days. Well written. Thanks!
